This season's allocations

Allocated

We buy at release, directly from estates we never name in public. You get the wine, its full story and our guarantee. They keep their privacy, and you keep one trusted source.

Proven

Every bottle carries a passport: the ground, the harvest, export and handover, recorded from the estate to your cellar.

Delivered

Everything ships from the Cape, so we plan your season with you and deliver to the port, hangar or residence on the date you need it.

We don't do last minute. We do the whole season.

Tell us where the vessel will be and when. The Voyage Planner works back from each port to the Cape and shows the date to confirm every list, so the wine is waiting before the guests arrive.

Questions people ask first

What is PinoGrotto?

PinoGrotto is an allocation and export merchant for South African estate wines. We secure wines at release, directly from estates, and deliver them with full provenance to yachts, private aircraft, residences, hotels and cruise lines internationally.

Why don't you name your estates?

Our estates prefer privacy, so we show each one by number and by the soil its vines grow in. Every estate is a registered South African producer, and your advisors can confirm identities privately, under confidentiality, before you buy.

How far ahead should a yacht order?

Everything ships from South Africa, so plan by port. Allow about three weeks before each arrival. The Voyage Planner shows the exact date to confirm each list.

Where do you deliver?

To ports, private aviation terminals, residences, hotels and cruise lines internationally, shipped from the Cape. Duty and customs for each destination are confirmed with you before shipping.

How do I know a bottle is genuine?

Every case travels under a numbered tamper-evident seal with its own temperature logger, and carries a tag that opens its passport: the estate's ground, packing, landing, release and handover, with the temperature range it saw on the way.

How do I start?

Request an introduction or email terrilyn@pinogrotto.com. Your Allocation Steward replies personally within one working day.

We keep our estates private, so we make ourselves easy to check.

Every client is looked after by one Allocation Steward: a single person who knows your vessel or residence, the owner's palate and the season ahead, from the first conversation to the last bottle.

Every estate we work with is a registered South African producer, and your advisors can confirm who they are privately, under confidentiality, before you buy.

Estates who would like to work with us quietly can start a private conversation.

The Cape at sea level

Two oceans, one mountain wall, and a wind with a nickname. Move through the growing year to see what shapes these wines.

January

Summer and the Doctor

Grapes change colour in the heat. The southeaster pulls a cloud over the mountain like a tablecloth, and it and the cold Atlantic keep the vineyards cool.

Old bush vines on poor, free-draining decomposed granite. This is how we show an estate: the ground it grows in, never its gate.
